Topic :
Knowing how to create and maintain balance in a session must be a solid asset in order to play safely and develop the trust of the person tied.
Confidence in the tying person is an important tool in facilitating letting go, so it's important to master the tools of balance before attempting to create or use imbalance.
We shouldn’t create imbalance because we don't know how to do differently, on the contrary we know how to create balance and choose to consciously play with imbalance.
To be able to use this tool, the tied person must relax, not fight, and understand not to act against the actions of the attaching person. Trust in the tying person is also necessary for both protagonists.
This tool is also quite powerful for people practicing power exchange in ropes.
In partial suspension or suspension we often neglect this aspect because our uplines are doing the job, but we'll see the advantages and weaknesses of imbalance in various exercises.
Pre-requisites :
This is not a beginner class.
Both model and rigger must be confortable with Gote (TK) and partial suspension.
(Pour les élèves de l'Atelier Simonet, avoir participé à plusieurs cours de semi-suspension est idéal)
Material :
A minimum of 5-6 jute or hemp ropes, ideally 5 or 6mm in diameter and averaging 7-8 meters in length will be required.
Docvale :
Rigger and owner of Atelier Simonet, Paris
I started to perform and teach shibari in France and internationally in 2012. The psychological aspect of kinbaku being at the center of my practice, when I discovered Naka Akira's semenawa I decided to dedicate myself to it.
Thanks to an assiduous practice with my partners I managed to 1ind a way towards my own style.
The challenge for me is ambitious: to reclaim the values and aesthetics of my predecessors while bringing my own singularities.
To synthetize my vision of kinbaku I would highlight these following issues and desires: "Revisiting the roots of kinbaku, always searching to deepen the intimate and emotional dimension, while integrating and developing more contemporary techniques on security and anatomy."
Today my kinbaku is constantly evolving but always centered on my desire to better perceive and understand others.
Since 2018, I am in charge of Atelier Simonet in Paris, recognized in 2019 as an of1icial Naka style studio by Naka Akira.
Bänana :
Rigger and owner of La Cabäne, Paris
Bänana, a ten-year bondage enthusiast, found her passion in shibari in 2017, drawn to its raw and authentic nature.
As she has always been fascinated by the expression of emotions, shibari, and more specifically semenawa has opened up a new path of exploration to her.
She began to follow Docvale’s teaching in November 2018, later partnering with him to co- manage Atelier Simonet in Paris until summer 2023.
Bänana considers that in order to tie well, we must understand each of our technical choices rather than learning the instructions by heart. She gives to her students a solid grounding so they can feel free while tying and put these technical abilities at the service of the relationship with their partners.
Being in ropes is also something to be apprehended. Not that you have to behave in any particular way. On the contrary, every tied-up person has to find the way that pleases him or her. It's also a long journey full of questions and emotions, and it seems important to Bänana that all this is taken into account during her courses.
Bänana's courses are so often highly interactive, with the idea that everyone should have a place to ask questions and express their experiences and feedback in order to grow together in this practice.
