L’Ensemble Vocal Aziliz, fondé en septembre 2020 par Camille Livyns et dirigé par Judith Sepulchre depuis sa création, est un petit choeur à voix égales et à géométrie variable. L’ensemble chante principalement a cappella, mais s’est allié depuis un an à la pianiste et organiste Charlène Bertholet pour plusieurs de ses programmes musicaux. Animé par un répertoire allant de la Renaissance au XXIe siècle, l’Ensemble Vocal Aziliz collabore souvent avec de jeunes compositeurs contemporains, dont Aurélien Hallopeau qui lui a dédié son oeuvre “Unité”, composée sur un extrait des “Contemplations” de Victor Hugo.

 

PROGRAMME

 

“Aphrodite’s Crown” (ou “La couronne d’Aphrodite”) est un programme de pièces écrites pour choeur de femmes accompagnées au piano, et construit autour de compositeurs français de la fin du XIXe siècle.

 

Commandé en juillet 2023 par le Mu.Zee d’Ostende pour son exposition sur la peintre Anna Boch, ce programme avait pour but de recréer l’une des soirées musicales organisées par le compositeur Vincent d’Indy chez Anna Boch pour le Groupe des XX, un collectif d’artistes avant-gardistes du tournant du siècle. Y étaient mis à l’honneur des compositeurs tels que Gabriel Fauré, notamment pour son oeuvre “Caligula” chantée par un ensemble vocal féminin hébergé tous les mercredis chez Anna Boch pour ses répétitions.

 

“Aphrodite’s Crown” vous offre un voyage dans le temps et une invitation à une soirée d’été baignée des échos romantiques et impressionistes de Gabriel Fauré, Vincent d’Indy, Claude Debussy, Ernest Chausson et César Franck. Viendront s’ajouter à ces chants, quelques touches plus modernes a cappella influencées par cette époque de floraison et de renouveau.

PROGRAM

"Aphrodite's Crown" (or "La couronne d'Aphrodite") is a program of pieces written for women's choir accompanied by piano, and built around French composers of the late 19th century.

Commissioned in July 2023 by the Mu.Zee in Ostend for its exhibition on the painter Anna Boch, this program was intended to recreate one of the musical evenings organized by composer Vincent d'Indy at Anna Boch's home for the Groupe des XX, a collective of avant-garde artists at the turn of the century.

 

The evening featured composers such as Gabriel Fauré, notably for his work "Caligula", sung by an all-female vocal ensemble rehearsing every Wednesday at Anna Boch's home.

"Aphrodite's Crown" offers a journey back in time and an invitation to a summer evening bathed in the romantic and impressionist echoes of Gabriel Fauré, Vincent d'Indy, Claude Debussy, Ernest Chausson and César Franck. Added to these songs are a few more modern a cappella touches influenced by this era of flowering and renewal.
