Batteur et compositeur originaire de São Luís do Maranhão – une ville qui a vu naître de grands artistes brésiliens comme la pianiste Tânia Maria, Alcione, Zeca Baleiro, Anna Torres, entre autres – Isaías Alves propose de célèbrer le "Nouveau Jazz Brésilien" avec une approche unique et innovante. Ce projet est une fusion créative entre le jazz contemporain et les riches éléments rythmiques et mélodiques du nord-est du Brésil, avec une attention particulière portée à la culture de l’État du Maranhão, si chargée musicalement. Entourés de Yo au sax, Daniel Gassin au piano et Gabriel à la contrebasse, Isaías offrira des compositions originales qui traduisent l’essence des traditions culturelles emblématiques telles que le tambor de crioula et le bumba meu boi, réinterprétées dans un langage jazz sophistiqué et universel. Étoile montante de la scène internationale, musicien, compositeur et chercheur sonore, Isaías Alves navigue entre le jazz, la musique expérimentale et les traditions afro-brésiliennes et indigènes, explorant de nouvelles possibilités rythmiques et harmoniques. Son travail créatif inclut l'album Lanka et sa participation au projet intercontinental Odyssey – produit avec des artistes d'Espagne, de Cuba et d'Inde –, affirmant son engagement envers la fusion de l'ancestralité et de la modernité.

Drummer and composer Isaías Alves hails from São Luís do Maranhão - the birthplace of such great Brazilian artists as pianist Tânia Maria, Alcione, Zeca Baleiro and Anna Torres, among others - and proposes to celebrate “New Brazilian Jazz” with a unique and innovative approach. This project is a creative fusion between contemporary jazz and the rich rhythmic and melodic elements of northeastern Brazil, with a particular focus on the musically-charged culture of the state of Maranhão.
