Avec sa voix mezzo-soprano, veloutée et sinueuse, Malika Zarra réserve au public ses plus belles improvisations teintées d’influences chaâbi, berbère et gnawa. Avec une compréhension aiguë des mélodies, Malika Zarra s’est imposée comme une créatrice agile qui glisse entre les rythmes et jongle avec les spécificités du persan, de l’anglais et du français. Un univers sonore unique nourri d’improvisations exquises et à la liberté musicale désinhibante.
Native du Maroc, passée par la France avant de s'installer à New-York, Malika Zarra a puisé un peu partout « l'essence » de sa musique multicolore et le jazz y est omniprésent. Mais la soul vient s'y faufiler tout comme les youyous et les rythmes d'une Afrique sans frontières. Sans succomber à la facilité, la diva berbère surprend et séduit par son aisance mélodique et la richesse de l'environnement sonore qui l'entoure.
Malika sera accompagnée de Leonardo Montana au piano, qui vogue avec brio dans des univers musicaux aussi divers que riches et qui se produit au côté de nombreux artistes majeurs de la scène Jazz. On a pu l’entendre, entre autres, aux côtes Felipe Cabrera, Arnaud Dolmen, Raul de Souza , Samy Thiébault, Anne Paceo, Céline Bonacina, Bill Mchenry, Romain Pilon,Géraldine Laurent, Michael Pipoquinha, Pedro Martins, Plume, Claude Tchamitchian, Irving Acao etc.,dans de nombreux festivals et clubs du monde entier. Son expérience en tant que sideman l'amène à enregistrer deux albums de piano solo, le premier, "A Flor da Pele" (label Paradis Improvisé) sorti en 2022, et un autre "Joruri" sorti en 2023 (label Emouvance).

With her acute understanding of melodies, Malika Zarra has established herself as an agile creator who glides between rhythms and juggles the specificities of Persian, English and French. A unique universe of sound, nourished by exquisite improvisations and uninhibited musical freedom.
Malika Zarra, who was born in Morocco and spent time in France before settling in New York, has drawn the “essence” of her multicolored music from all over the world, and jazz is omnipresent. But soul sneaks in, as do the youyous and rhythms of a borderless Africa. Without succumbing to the easy way out, the Berber diva surprises and seduces with her melodic ease and the richness of the surrounding soundscape.

Malika will be accompanied by Leonardo Montana on piano, who sails with brio in musical universes as diverse as they are rich, and performs alongside many major artists on the jazz scene. She has performed alongside Felipe Cabrera, Arnaud Dolmen, Raul de Souza , Samy Thiébault, Anne Paceo, Céline Bonacina, Bill Mchenry, Romain Pilon,Géraldine Laurent, Michael Pipoquinha, Pedro Martins, Plume, Claude Tchamitchian, Irving Acao etc., at festivals and clubs around the world.
