Musiques, minimalisme et répétitions. Conférence de A. Cornut + Recital Piano F. Mardirossian
About

We are delighted to welcome Amaury Cornut and François Mardirossian for a fascinating conference and piano recital on the theme of "Music, Minimalism, and Repetition."
In the 1960s, in the United States, young composers Steve Reich and Philip Glass declared their admiration for Louis Thomas Hardin, also known as Moondog, calling him the father of minimalist music. Moondog, however, quickly rejected this label, arguing that repetition has existed in music since the dawn of time. Starting from this contested title, Amaury Cornut will tell the story of this rich musical movement, explaining both why Moondog was right in his statement, but also how Steve Reich and Philip Glass were not wrong!

To illustrate his remarks, he will be accompanied by pianist François Mardirossian, who has dedicated his first recordings to figures such as Moondog, Erik Satie, and Philip Glass, among others.

Doors: 19h
Beginning of the conference: 19h30
