Né le 5 avril 1995 à Ontario, au Canada, Daniel Caesar grandit à Oshawa. Il hérite de son père, pasteur, qui pratique le gospel, le goût de la musique et chante au sein de sa congrégation. À 17 ans, après une violente dispute avec celui-ci, Daniel Caesar quitte le domicile familial, devient un temps sans-abri, puis grâce aux producteurs et futurs collaborateurs Jordan Evans et Matthew Burnett, il enregistre son premier EP en 2014, Praise Break, empreint de R&B. Il en livre un deuxième, Pilgrim’s Paradise, en 2015. C’est deux ans plus tard qu’il met au point son premier album studio, Freudian, qui recèle les simples « Get You », « We Find Love » et « Blessed ». Il est nommé pour cet opus à deux reprises aux Grammy Awards dans les catégories « Best R&B Album » et « Best R&B Performance » et est récompensé pour cette dernière grâce au titre « Best Part », enregistré avec H.E.R.. En 2019, son deuxième album, Case Study 01, se hisse à la 17e place du Billboard, aidé par les collaborations avec des artistes de renom qui interviennent au fil des plages : Brandy, Pharrell Williams ou encore John Mayer. En mars 2021, il apparaît en tant qu’invité sur le titre « Peaches » de Justin Bieber, qui se hisse à la première place des charts. Deux ans plus tard, il met au point son troisième album, Never Enough, porté par les titres « Do You Like Me » et « Let Me Go ».
