Rangjung Yeshe Gomde Pyrénées's annual Sphere of Refined Gold retreat is based on a terma revealed by Chokgyur Lingpa with commentary by Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche. This profound practice is combined with daily Vajrasattva and protector group practice. Drubpon Lama Tenzin Sangpo is the retreat master.
Participants should ideally have received transmission of the text from Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche or another lineage holder. In addition, permission to practice and ideally some instructions should also have been obtained. Participants should be prepared to undertake four 90 minute individual practice sessions daily. Instructions will be offered in one session per day only.
The retreat will be divided into two sections. Preference is given to participants who commit to both portions. If we have space, we will accept people who wish to participate for either the first part only or the second part only.
The first part, focused on the special preliminaries described in the text, commences with orientation on February 22.
Please note that you must plan to arrive at Gomde on or by February 21.
We have sent the information on transport via email.
The first part of the retreat lasts 6 weeks and participants are asked to commit to that entire time.
In the second part, starting on April 7, 2025, students will practice Trekcho according to the instructions from the Sphere of Refined Gold. The second part of the retreat is open to those who have previously done the preliminary practices included in the Sphere of Refined Gold text.
For either portion of the retreat, only those people who have received confirmation of their acceptance should complete this registration.
When you apply for this retreat, we ask that you commit yourself to attending ALL group practice sessions and teaching sessions and to strictly observe the schedule for individual practice sessions. We also ask that each person commit to doing 30-45 minutes per day of dharma service. Those tasks will be assigned during orientation.
Retreatants are asked to avoid all outside contact during this time. Please do not expect to be able to do any regular work during the retreat. We would like to stress that noble silence is encouraged during this retreat and participants can wear badges that indicate they prefer not to engage in any conversation.
