The history of Ukraine is deeper and longer than we understand, with tremendous significance for Western civilization and indeed the globe. When we understand its historical past, we are better able to ignore propaganda and grasp the true significance of the war. The very challenge Ukraine poses to conventional historical narratives opens up the question of freedom.
